Belgium, Railway Tunnel and Station Schuman-Josaphat

introduction

A new railway tunnel will be constructed to link railway 161 (Brussels-Namur) to rail 26 (Halle-Vilvoorde). The tunnel with a length of 1,250 m has been excavated beneath a very dense region. The new railway starts under the Résidence Palace and is connected to the existing railway tunnel nearby the Plaskyplein.
These works are being executed within the framework of the project ‘GEN’, the regional express network, is a rapid transit system under construction in Belgium. It will significantly improve the train connections to Brussels. Also the connections with the European quarter and the airport will be more fluent and the new tunnel will partly lighten the very busy north-south connection.
Under very urgent delivery time, Unisite allocated personnel and time rationally and organized site short meetings (ssm) everyday and each post had a full set of staff--fitter, welder, engineer, QC, manager and standby in order to control the urgent matter and improve the production and finally we finished all 220pcs jacking structure pipes in 2 months with witness by Lloyds.
